Slowly but surely.

Thats cool that we got all those sweet people in our ward. We're going to a couple of members houses for christmas I think. Well we had a pretty good week we found a couple new investigators and we had 2 people that will most likely get baptized so its going pretty good here. We have a lot of interesting talks with people, its kind of hard because everyone is liberal and its hard to talk with them about the gospel.
Its pretty wierd that all of us kids are pretty much all gone but I'm glad to be out here.We have met some really interesting people here and we hear a lot of crap though, its pretty funny, but we found 6 new investigators this week so its going good. Yes I enjoyed the package. It sounds like yall get to spend a whole lot more time with the girls. Thats good they need it. I cant wait to talk to yall on Christmas.
Its going all good here.

Rejection after rejection and sweet members.

My week was pretty good we had a couple of good lessons. Some stories so far in Asheville; we've had crazy conversations with ignorant liberals and it is really annoying. We had Pres. Thomas and his family in our branch yesterday and they gave some really good talks. We have one really good investigator and she knows the church is true but she's going through a rough time and everything, but she will eventually get baptized. I like the ward here way better than I did in Danville there are some sweet members here and they are way cool, but there isn't really any cool stories yet because about everyday here is rejection after rejection, maybe every once and a while we get a good potential investigator. I'll tell ya some sweet stories when there are some.

Luv yall
Have a good week

Come what may and love it!

Sounds like yall had fun at the thanksgiving dinner. What I enjoyed about danville was there were some really cool members and there was a lot of people to talk to and I had a lot of success there I think there is just one ward in Asheville and a few not far from it. Something I've learned from my mission is our mission pres or someone said "Come what may and love it". I like that a lot. As far as spiritual experiences, just reading the scriptures and gaining a better understanding of the gospel. I havent talked in church yet. Yeah the Biltmore Estate is close to us, its like 10 minutes away from our house and it looks really nice and we'll probably go there sometime. Our house has 8 rooms and its way sweet. Wow it doesnt even seem like AJ and Andrew have been gone that long. I don't really have those problems that Pres Uchtdorf talked about. But we're probably in one of the hardest areas in the mission. Thats way sweet about Bishop Stones, he's a really good guy. Tell Delbert and his fam hi for me.
We are in a car share and were the only elders in Asheville, I think. Guess what? We are eating dinner with David Baldwin, your Greenie from your mission, on Thanksgiving, its pretty sweet. I like this area better than Danville the members are way cool here and the town is really nice but theres not a whole lot of good people to talk to since they''re all liberal and there's a lot of college students here. Oh tell Miranda a really late happy b-day from me and that I love her. I forgot about it cuz of the wedding and mission stuff, so tell her sorry. Well hope yall have a good week.

Transferred to Asheville, NC

Hey Mom and Dad

Last week was pretty good. Transfers were this week and I got transferred to Asheville, NC and its pretty cool. My new comp is Elder Lott and he's pretty cool. People call it the San Fransisco of the east cuz pretty much everyone is gay here. A funny experience we had was we were tracting and we walked up to this guy with a couple of dogs and when we stood up hes like oh yall are Mormons? So we asked him wat he knew about us and he said "yall are &!@#$%^ crazy, bigetous and hateful people, other than that nothing." It was pretty funny this dude was gay so me and my comp were laughing for a while. Theres not a lot of people to teach here but we found a pretty solid gator yesterday which was way cool. The members here are way cool and I like the ward a little better than Danville. Sounds like yall had fun with everyone gone. Thanx for all the advice Dad it was good alright. I'll be looking for my package soon.

Have a good week

Hello Ya'll

Everyday we wake up and go play some bball, come back to study, go out and visit poeple and tract. That's what we do all day and members are not feeding us, so not a lot of stuff happening. I don't know what we're gonna do for thanksgiving yet, I'll probably be in a new area so I don't know.
Now life is normal for yall now that everything has happened. haha

Well it's all good here in Danville we're teaching a lot but we haven't really found any golden people so its a little tough but things happen. Me and Elder Ramsey made a missionary rap song I'll send it soon. It's tight.

I love the Book of Mormon I've already read it twice and I've started on a third time. I love reading it, I learn new things everytime.
I wish I could've been there for the wedding but Shayanna's right, I'm where I need to be. I'm sure the temple was awesome. Hows does Shayanna feel about all of this?
Hope yall have a good week. Luv yall

Good week

We had another baptism this weekend his name is James Pampani, hes way cool I'll send pics soon.
I got that cut on my face while we were doing service cutting trees down at a members and it accidentally hit me on the side of my face so now I got a cool scar.
How does Miles like going out with the elders? Does he like doing the work? Thats crazy all the kids are leaving home. When is Cameron gunna start working on his papers?
Haha I don't know if Miranda will grow another foot, she might but I doubt it haha. Tell them good luck in the games. Ya when I get home you can watch me play some sports:) I wish.

Haha us missionaries have to have some fun. Yankees and Phillies in the World series thats sweet. Elder Ramsey keeps saying the angels would go just cuz hes from cali. Ya that message on our answering machine was a member, he's way cool and likes to mess around and go out with us. We're doing good here not much just teaching and tracting a lot. We have a zone conference every transfer and they are pretty sweet. Well I hope you have a good week.

I'm in full car right now and I really dont exerise in the morning, I try really hard but i cant seem to do it its harder than I thought to get out of bed and exercise usually I just sit on my bed for awhile. We have a bench set and I do that a lot we go running sometimes and I do crunches. Theres not a whole lot to do exercise wise on my mission.
Tell Crystal hi for me and to get well aight. How's she doing?
Did yall get my letter i sent last week??? it had my card in it i hope it got to yall or ill be mad cuz i had some sweet pics on there.
Well were changing how were doing things in the mission so its a little rough they want us to make our main priority finding so we are tracting like 10 hours last week that was fun and we taught like 15 lessons.
Ya its pretty crazy they're gettin married in 2 weeks wow. Ya you can send me the dvd that would be sweet.
What are Shayanna and Steven's plans right now? Like for thier honeymoon and wat not? when are they moving to Idaho?

New Comp & Conference was great!!

Ya I really enjoyed Elder Holland's talk as well and the priesthood one about the asian boys, that was good. I've been reading the Book of Mormon a lot. I'm gonna finish it this week so I read it in about a month:) I will always remember the times I was able to go to the temple. The temple was amazing and I'll never forget that experience.
Thats pretty sweet that Lacey's girls want to be baptized. I went with the missionaries a few times to teach her. Is the house still pretty empty? What do yall do all the time now?
Oh do you remember a David Baldwin?(Side note. I trained Elder David Baldwin on my mission in California) An elder at tranfers on Thursday told me he knew you, that he went to your mission. Oh I got a new comp from Tonga, Elder Ramsey he's way cool.
Well we're teaching here and its going great, I'll send my memory card soon aight.
Conference was awesome I watched all 5 sessions and took some naps. I cant watch ppl talk forever so I got a little sleepy haha.
Thats sweet that the girls are having fun playing volleyball. I havent heard from them in forever, how are they doing?
Ya I'm sure its way weird for us growing up, one out here, Shay gettin married, Cameron leaves for a mission soon, then Miles. Its crazy but fun.

Thanx for the email Steven I really liked it. Good advice and I know how much you miss it cuz when the time comes I won't want to leave either. It is the best experience to be on a mission and I love doing the work.
well hope to hear from yall soon luv yall

Have a good week, luv ya Elder Goods

I started the BoM at the begining of sept and I'm almost done with Alma.
I'm learning a lot of new things everytime I read it. I'll send some pics soon.
We had a mission tour on friday and Elder Richard Maynes came and he taught
us about how to better the missionary work here it was really good, and I
learned a lot from it.
Yes I'm healthy right now but I've been a little sick a couple of times so far.
Tell Miles Cameron and Shayanna to write back please. Thanx
We are going good here we're teaching a few good ppl that have already come to church a few times and its pretty crazy here buts it all good

Yup I've been out 3 months its crazy.

Hey Fam,

Yup 3 months. It’s crazy I’ve been on my mission that long. It doesn’t even seem Seth Bruneel has been gone that long and he’s already coming home soon. What we did last week - day by day –

Monday we did all of our stuff and ate with members. Well Tuesday we had interviews with the president then I went on exchanges with Elder Tobler in Eden. We visited a few members and one of their investigators. It was sweet. Wednesday we went and talked to a few ppl but its hard finding new investigators right now; and we just taught a couple of ppl. Thursday was just a normal day teaching and finding. Friday we went to Eden then we went and taught a few ppl. Went tracting. Saturday we had to go to this thing at the church which sucked. We were there for like 6 hours and it was way boring. We then went and taught ppl; I cant remember their names right now haha. Then Sunday we went to Caswell since we were over there as well and taught a guy we met. It was cool. Then we ate w/ a member then went to visit one of our investigators. Then we went to a member to take them with us to an appt; but they weren’t there, so we went back to their house and talked about things that are happening right now. That kind’a sucked but we’ll get through it. I haven’t really had anything weird. I’ve tried shrimp and crab - they r fricken gross. They’re nasty. We get fed a lot though. I’m pretty big now. jk It’s going good here. The Lord is blessing us a lot even though things r happening that Satan is trying to stop the work. It’s a little mess here, but we’re working through it. Miles said, “Oh ya bro... the packers beat the bears... haha.” Ya they lost but they beat the Steelers so it’s all good. Update me every week about the Chiefs football. That would be tight. R they pretty good??? Well we’ve already had 5 baptisms in our area so it’s way cool. The Lord is helping us a lot here. Is Cameron getting more and more excited about serving a mission? I’ll send pics soon. Well we met this one guy tracting and he was looking for answers to his prayers and we showed up and gave him a BoM. Now we’re teaching him and he’s come to church twice. Just teaching and helping ppl understand is a spiritual experience by itself; especially when they want to learn and
come to church. It’s really cool to watch ppl change their lives. A crazy thing we do is we mess
around sometimes in our apartment. It’s pretty fun haha.

Hey Fam

Hey fam
Hope everything is going well. How's school & work going for you guys? Well, I'm doing good. My companion is pretty cool; we get along good. We both like sports, etc. We don't really tract a whole lot here; mostly when an appointment falls through we go knock some doors. Saturday was the 1st time someone slammed the door. HAHA. It was kind'a mean but whatever. We've met a lot of good people here and a lot not so good, but it's all good. We're doing the Lord's work and getting blessed for it. We teach over 3 lessons a week and our investigators are awesome.
Well last week our zone leaders had a meeting with the stake presidency and we are the most baptizing ward in our zone and this is the most Danville has baptized in a long time. So that's a big blessing.
Well this one time we were tracting with Cortez and almost got the cops called on us. It was pretty funny. The lady was very mean. We would have a few investigators we were teaching at the beginning and then they didn't want to meet with us anymore so for a while it was hard to find new investigators but we're doing pretty good at that.
Well our investigator getting baptized Sat the 12th - she's awesome. We've been teaching her since I got here and when we met her she kept saying she was "saved" (everybody says that down here) but as we explain things to her we helped her understand from the scriptures. She drank tea, coffee, smoked and we told her to give it up and it wasn't a problem for her. She's getting "anti" crap but since she got a witness about the priesthood, she knows it's true and says she's gonna die a Mormon :) We have a few investigators that want to come to church so that's way cool. We met James and his fam last week and we were just tracting and people were on his porch and they were high. HAHA. Then he came out and wanted a BOM so we taught him and he understands what we're teaching and he came to church and really liked it and said that's how churches are supposed to be.
Well Danville is going pretty good but there's a lot of crazy people here. We're also teaching a fam we found; they seem kind'a interested but I don't know. So we're doing very good here and it's awesome.
Some of the members here are pretty cool. We hang out with the Johns and the Tubbs and they feed us or whatnot. The Johns are way cool and he's ex-military and has a lot of cool stories. His wife is from Nevada and knows my comps family. We play bad mitten there a lot on P-Days. The Tubbs are hilarious. He tells us all the funny stories from his mission and we laugh all the time and she's cool, plays softball. They have a little boy and he's very cool. Lately we've been doing home run derbies and I dominate every time. :) There's a few more cool members. Sis Anderson feeds us and we do service for her and she's a great woman. Those 3 fams right here are pretty much the only members that will come teaching with us.
Well the missionary life is a little difficult but I'm pretty much used to it now. I wakeup at 6:30 but I'm still a little tired. That's about it now. We exercise for a little bit. The teaching thing and talking to people is the easy part.
Well, sounds like you guys are having a good time in Moses. Oh, well, studying from the scriptures and PMG helps me a lot and I've already read the BOM and am reading it again and studying the Bible since I don't know a whole lot about it.
Well hope you guys have had a great week and tell Eric hi for me and everybody else.
Is there anything else you gus wanna know about the mission, etc? Just let me know.

Luv you guys, Elder Goods

PS Thanx for the pics. Hope to get some more soon and to hear from you guys.

This was written to Cameron. We had to send snail mail.

Its going really good here we were the highest baptizing district in our zone with 5 in the past 2 months and we have another this weekend and we're teaching like 4 promising investigators so its going all good bro.  Its fun you'll miss home for a little bit and then you'll just figure out that if you keep worrying about it, it will go by slower so when it comes your time to go on one just remember to not worry about home and just go do the lords work:)  We have some really cool members that we visit a lot and have a good time w/ them.

Well like the past 5 pdays weve had homerun derbies and i win everytime haha
I'm around 240-245 ive gained a little mostly in the MTC cuz I cant play bball everyday like I did back home so not exercising everyday kinda stinks but ive gotten a whole lot stronger for some reason I can bench a lot and so I'm pretty strong haha.
Tell mom and dad, shayanna, miles etc to write back.

thanx bro
oh when do you plan on starting your papers???
well have a good week bro ttyl

Dont have much time today.

OK. I’ll try to send you my camera card soon so you can put the pics on the blog. How’s the scrapbook thing Estella gave you coming along? Sounds like all is going good at home. It’s going pretty good here. We now have to cover Danville and Caswell and it’s going good. Well, next week is Labor Day and the library will be closed and I can’t do emails, so just send me a letter ASAP so I’ll get it Sat or Mon. Hope to hear from you all. Tell the fam to each write me a letter please. I would love to hear from everybody. K. Well, I’ll write you guys a letter about some experiences that I’ve had since I’m running out of time. Well, have fun working and have a good week.

Typical Day

A typical day for me is I wake up at 6:30 and exercise for a bit and then get ready for the day. Then we have personal and companionship study. Then we go out and teach most of the time or try to find people or sometimes we'll do service and then we have lunch and then we go out to our appointments and find people to teach until around 6 and then we have dinner most of the time with members and then we go teach for a little bit longer and then we come home plan for the next day and then we get ready for bed and thats about it thats the missionary for you right there.

Ya I'll probably go to walmart today and get the pictures I want you guys to see. Yah I saw the pics of Shayanna and Steven they're pretty nice.
So how's the family doing? It would be nice to hear from Shayanna about the past few weeks haha, and Cameron

Well our 1st transfer is up and we had 4 baptisms so that was way sweet and we've been teaching a lot.
Send me one of Shayanna and Steven's cards so I can see what it looks like. The humidity isnt that bad here the worst days are pretty much over its just hot and it rains so much here.

Have a good week Mom luv ya

Another Week in Danville

Hello Everyone
My week was pretty good.  We have been teaching alot and have another baptism this weekend.  That is way sweet that he gave her a ring.  I'm happy for Shayanna and Steven.  That is so wierd that she's getting married cuz she never thought about getting married at 20 and I'm sure none of us did, but I'm so happy for Her and Steven.  Tell them good luck and I luv them.  So when is their offical date when they are getting married?  Does Steven spend time with the boys a lot?

I will take pics of those things you wanted.  Well a spiritual experience that we have had is we have been teaching this older lady for awhile and she has come to church twice and is keeping all her commitments so that is really cool.  Hopefully it is not long before she's baptized.

It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun at Uncle Wayne's with a bunch of the family.  Dad thats pretty sweet that you got to fly with uncle Wayne. Too bad you didnt feel so good in the plane when you were flying?  Yah, I'll  make some copies of some pictures for you at walmart and send you some.  I like it here in Danville.  The members are awesome here and we are teaching a lot which is really nice.

I am good right now just some pictures would be sweet.
Hows the fam doing?  Anything I can do for you guys? haha

The work is going great here.

I'm doing pretty good here. We are teaching a lot and we've already had 3 baptisms and a few more soon hopefully. We are teaching a lot and finding a few poeple but its going good. When we were at PEC the Elders Quorum president said this is the most missionary work he has seen in Danville so that was pretty cool. The work is going great here.

1. Are you and your companion the only elders in your ward, or are
there other missionaries in Danville? Yes were the only ones in Danville and in a week well be covering the Caswell area as well.
2. Do you guys spend time tracting or just going from appointment to
appointment, or to members homes? Sometimes we go to members home and we also have a lot of appointments.
3. When is the next transfer date? Do you think you two will stay another transfer for you to get your feet well planted? The next transfer is aug 21. I dont know yet if we will stay. Maybe we will
4. How long has your companion been out? Dad's friend there in NC
thought he heard that he might be going home soon. He still has a while left in the mission.
5. Do you have any advice for Miles and Cameron yet? Just to read and study but they never write back so I dont know. haha. Just tell them to make time to read and study.
6. What was your favorite teaching experience this week? This lady that we have been teaching the whole time I've been here finally came to church and she loved it, and is going to keep coming.
7. Who got baptized this weekend? His name is Cortez. We have already had 3 baptisms so far.
8. Did you do any service for anyone this week? Mostly we just mow lawns and we helped a family in the ward with their house they are building.

Things are going great.

Hello Family and Friends
I baptized William Wimbish this weekend. He was being taught for like 2 years so I’m glad he finally became a member. It was pretty slow last week because people didn’t keep there appointments. We still are teaching a lot and the members are really cool here even though the ward is small. They feed us and go out with us a lot. They feed us pretty good I’ve gained a few pounds lol. Any tips on losing wieght? Any good foods to eat?
We’ve already had 2 baptisms this month and have another this weekend so it’s going really good out here. We’re teaching around 30 lessons a week.
We talked to this one guy on Saturday about baseball for like an hour. He played in the minor leagues so that was pretty cool. That is really cool that Jeff is coming back and I hope he keeps coming. Tell Grandma and Grandpa thanks and I love them. I started reading the B of M in the MTC and I’m in Alma right now and were just studying Preach My Gospel and some other stuff. Its going really good well have a good week.

Blessings and frustration.

It seems like I’ve been gone forever and its going by fast., We had a baptism last weekend her name is Tia Conyers, she’s 22 and it was neat to see her baptized. We have one the next 2 weekends as well, so that’s really cool. We teach a lot but they aren’t coming to church and a lot don’t keep their appointments, so it’s a little frustrating. I’m going on exchanges today to Greensboro so that’s cool. Thanks for all the little quotes you send me I really like them. Have a good week.

I Love it here!

Danville is a pretty big city, about 44000 I think and some days its really hot and its been raining a lot lately and its pretty humid sometimes. We are teaching a lot which is the awesome thing. I love it here.

Yea a lot of the elders remember Elder Eric Palmer. I’m doing pretty good here and we are teaching a lot. We have a baptism this weekend and we had a family of 4 we just found monday and they came to church and they might get baptized but I don't know yet. You can have Grandma and Grandad write me so they can ask me questions and all that stuff. You can send them some of the letters that I have already sent you guys that would work I guess. Have a good week.

First week in the mission field.

Hey fam,

Well I’m in Danville Virginia right now and my companion is Elder Cumming and he’s a hard worker and a great companion. For the pics mom just send them all back in actual pictures and I’ll put the names of people that are in the pics and then I’ll send you back some. Have you sent my memory card back yet??? For the lightsaber pics we just put some colored lead in front of the flash and you have A LIGHTSABER. Flying was really fun I pretty much slept a lot of the flight and took some pics. Can you send me pics of the family and friends and stuff like that thanks. Well we got to the airport and met Pres Thomas and his wife and then the assistants drove us to the mission home. I saw where the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Bobcats play which was pretty cool. We ate dinner at the Presidents house and then we talked for a bit and the assistants helped us for a bit and then we stayed at their house. The next day we drove to Statesville to have the transfer meeting and get our companions and my bike was there. What we have done since I’ve been here is teach around 20 lessons, I think. The members have fed us a lot so far the ward is really small and its alright. Kind of like church back home except that I’m a missionary. So what’s new in life for you guys in Moses? Tell everyone I love them. Well ttyl fam.

Gone to Charlotte

We were able to talk to Marshall this morning for about 4 minutes (he called at about 6 this morning). He and his companions had to get up at 3 this morning to get to the airport early for their flight to Charlotte. He sounded pretty tired. It was very nice to be able to talk with him. It seems like he has been gone a long time, but it has only been three weeks. He has mentioned that he is little nervous about the flight and going out to the mission field. Thank you all for your support of Elder Goodrich, it is very much appreciated.

July 6, 2009

Hey Mom and Dad,

Thanks for the letters I really appreciate them. It sounds like you guys are soooooo bored without me, haha. We got to watch fireworks from the MTC because at the BYU stadium they were doing a firework show it was sweet. After the fireside last Sunday we went out to the front of the MTC because there was a lot of people out there. When we got out to the front Pres. Monson was there and he talked to us for like 10 or 15 minutes about our missions, it was awesome. I took like 5 pictures. We went to the temple today, it is pretty nice not as awesome as the SLC temple though. Probably my favorite scripture right now is Moroni 10:3-5 it’s a good one. Have a good week

It’s crazy that the next time I’ll talk to you guys is when I’ll be in North Carolina. It is so weird that I am finally starting my mission mission. Talk to you later.

I saw Pres. Monson yesterday which was flippin awesome. I got some pics. Well my district is pretty sweet and we’ve been hangin out with another zone and they’re hilarious I’ll tell u about them later. Thanx for setting the blog thing up for me. I heard that sending pics on myldsmail isn’t good and I still need to take like over 400 pics until my memory cards get full so I’ll send you some when I get out on my mission. Ya I’ve heard stories about the rule thing I’m gonna try to follow them as close as possible I just need to get used to them. Well tty next week.

First Snail Mail (written 6-18-09)

Dear Mom, Dad, and family

Today was great and I had a lot of fun. Well, orientation is a little boring, lol, but it was still fun. Well, my companions right now are Elder Fronk from Utah and Elder Buchanon from Portland, Oregon. They’re really cool guys. Well, we started off doing all the medical stuff and then we just chilled in our apartment for a bit and then we went to some training orientation and then lunch. Then we had a little class and we just talked about ourselves and stuff like that. Well, I saw Dewitt like right away and then at lunch I saw him again and then me and Tyrel talked for 5-10 minutes and as we were waiting for our class, I saw Ryan and we talked for a bit. So it was really cool to see all of them today. Oh, me, Dewitt and Tyrel are all in the same building which is really cool and Ryan is right by us so it’s pretty sweet and it’s gonna be fun here.

Well, b-ball still isn’t around so I’ll have to play bump of volleyball or something like that which is alright I guess, but not really. jk. Well Friday or next Friday The 12 apostles and the 1st presidency are gonna be here which is pretty sweet. They’re training all the new mission presidents so it’s pretty neat. Well, the Salt Lake temple is closed or we can’t go for 2 weeks which kind’ a sucks but I’ll get to go right before I fly out to North Carolina which is way cool. On Sundays we get to walk to the temple and take pictures and stuff so I will take plenty of pics for you guys. The food is pretty good here and filling so that’s good :)

So how’s everybody doing at home? How’s all your summers going? How’s Shayanna and Steven doing? Haha. Mom and dad, how was the rest of your vacation in Utah?

Well, it’s awesome here at the MTC and I really like it so far.

Well I love you all and miss you all soooo much.
